Organizing Your Pet’s Space When You’re Renting a Home in Wellington

Wellington Tenant Spending a Lazy Afternoon with Their DogWellington pet owners know that caring for a dog, cat, or other animals also means having an assortment of pet-related things. Beds, toys, dishes, leashes, and more can quickly become messy problems if you don’t have a way to keep them organized. There are a few productive ways to keep your pet accessories under control and easy to find. By following some of these techniques, you can easily keep your pet’s area organized and your home clutter-free.

Pet Feeding Station

The best way to keep your pet’s area clean and look great is to create a pet feeding station. A feeding station could have a bin for food and treats, hooks for leashes and accessories, and a pull-out drawer with food bowls. So everything will remain clean in place. You might also buy or repurpose a cabinet, side table, or other pieces of furniture, something that matches with your current interior design.

Walking Station

Another smart way to keep your pet’s accessories organized is with a walking station. Try to use pet-themed wall décor, hooks, decorative baskets, or other elements to create a place to hang accessories and store important stuff in one area. That way, when you need to take your dog, cat, or even an iguana out for a stroll, it is easy to find everything that you need.

Under-Bed Storage

Pet beds can take up a lot of floor space. Why not maximize your square footage by building some storage to fit underneath a pet bed? With a couple of boxes or drawers and some effort, you can create a bed frame that has space for storing toys, grooming supplies, and accessories. Through using drawers, you also put all your pet’s things neatly out of sight when not in use.

Creative Storage Ideas

Of course, even choosing attractive storage bins or baskets can go a long way toward keeping your pet’s area organized. You may use a set of nesting bins or baskets to gather objects with different sizes. These can be put neatly in a corner or tucked in a convenient spot. Or maybe purchase an ottoman or chest that can use for toys as well as other things. Ottomans and chests can do double-duty as great furniture pieces in a living room, adding aesthetic appeal while keeping your pet’s things all in one place.

If you need additional storage, you could even repurpose an old armoire, cabinet, or other pieces of furniture to use for pet supplies. Pre-owned furniture pieces have always been easy to find and cheap to purchase and can be painted to fit the interior décor of your home.

De-Clutter Regularly

Some of the simplest ways to keep a tidy pet area are to de-clutter on a regular basis. Donate or throw out old leashes, broken toys, and any food items your pet won’t eat. Just keep the ones that you and your pet use often. Consider donating anything in good condition to a local rescue or shelter. In this matter, you can help out other pets while you have fewer items to keep in order.
